Kristine writes and researches love stories and the ways they've changed over time. From 'it is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife,' to 'ILY bae, BRB,' the way authors—and humans—fall in love, talk about sex and other hazards of love, and even meet in the dating world has drastically shifted since Austen's time. Though her romance novels end in a happily ever after like Jane Austen's, Lynn doesn't have any doubt that Austen herself would get a good laugh out of modern love and the novels, songs, and poetry we write about it. Come hear more about the history of love stories and why they are the most enduring, profitable form of literature to date.
Love and Book Deals (originally taught at the 2023 Contemporary Romance Writers Conference):
Authors Kristine Lynn, Katie Frey and Anna Grace were three hard-working, under-published authors when they met online in February of 2020. Within six months of working together, Katie had a two-book deal with Harlequin, and Anna and Kristine had signed with literary agents. Within eighteen months of meeting, the trio had a total of thirteen books published or under contract with major publishers. Together they’ve figured out how to launch newsletters, negotiate social media, and worked through countless sticky plot points together. We firmly believe that our rapid success is a result of working together, and supporting one another.
